Education
Supporting schools, colleges, universities and local authorities to meet the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff.
For mainstream schools and specialist provisions:
Radio aid system supply and support We supply, configure and maintain personal listeners for individual pupils. We can liaise with Teachers of the Deaf, audiology teams and SEND coordinators to ensure equipment is correctly specified and working.
Sound-field systems for classrooms Teacher-worn microphones and ceiling or wall-mounted speakers that distribute speech evenly across a classroom, proven to improve outcomes for all pupils, particularly those with hearing loss, auditory processing difficulties or English as an additional language.
Hearing loops for communal spaces Assembly halls, sports halls, music rooms and drama studios are among the most acoustically challenging spaces in any school. We can advise on the right approach for each.
Staff training and awareness Equipment only works when staff know how to use and maintain it. We provide training for teachers, TAs and technical staff.
For further and higher education:
We work with disability teams, student support services and estates departments on:
- Portable and fixed hearing loops for lecture theatres and seminar rooms
- Individual student equipment through Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA)
- Staff workplace equipment through Access to Work
"Our Local Authority carries out radio aid assessments, how do you fit in?" We work alongside Local Authority sensory support services, not instead of them. We can supply equipment specified by an LA audiologist or Teacher of the Deaf, provide installation and aftercare, and support schools that need to act quickly outside of LA timescales.
